International Engineering Projects at Open Door
16 May, 2014
Tony invited his friend Klaus all the way from Berlin to speak at Open Door and we lapped up every word as Klaus described his childhood in Nazi Germany, the hardships involved in rebuilding the country, and his student days of music and engineering. We then journeyed with him as he immigrated to Montreal, found his way with little money and fewer language skills, and eventually took a road trip across the United States as a curious young engineer and candidate for further study in New York. From the sewers of Montreal to the jungles of Sri Lanka, Klaus led us through the calculations and team work necessary for large and small engineering projects. We only got as far as the early 1980s when the evening was up, so we look forward to his next visit to Montreal when we feature “The Life of Klaus – Part II” next year at Open Door.
